Alby makes it to Kitty Hawk, NC

Alby lands at Kitty Hawk, NC 9-14-2015

Alby flew with pilot Eric Lambert on his motorized Grob 103 and landed at Kitty Hawk, NC. With this flight Alby completed a 7 year journey from the Pacific to Atlantic Ocean.

Eric Lambert safely flew Alby from Currituck to Kitty Hawk, NC on Monday, Sept. 14, completing Alby's voyage across the USA.

About Alby's 7 Year Voyage:

  1. The straight distance from Bodega Bay to Kitty Hawk is about 2,600 miles.
  2. The distance measured in the 23 segments from glider site to glider site is about 3640 miles and the distance actually flown by glider is perhaps 20% more so about 4,370 miles.
  3. The longest flight was 305 miles, the shortest 23 miles
  4. Highest altitude of 18,000’. The lowest altitude was 210’ (below sea level) when landing in Furnace Creek, Death Valley, CA.
